He is the beloved son of the late Mr. Shanmugam Pillai Ponnuthurai (Malaysian Pensioner) and Mrs. Annamma,

Beloved son-in-law of the late Traditional Physician (Snakebite Specialist) Mr. Chellappa Thurairajah and Mrs. Parvathi Pillai,

Beloved husband of Mrs. Varathalakshmi (Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages),
Loving father of Janarthanan (Chartered Accountant – JA Partners, former Head of Finance, Deutsche Bank Colombo branch), Janithra (Natya Kalaimani), Kandipan (Accountant – Ireland), and Senthooran (Journalist),

Affectionate father-in-law of Abirami (Former Head of Finance – MCB Bank Colombo branch), Dr. Jegarooban, Olivia, and Rohini,

Loving brother of the late Shanmugam Pillai (Malaysia), Maheswari, Narayanalingam (Sangaanai), Navasundaralingam (Malaysia), Mangaiyarkarasi, and Mahayogeswari (Barani Pharmacy), as well as Parameswari, Rajeswari (Canada), Uruthirasingham (Pharmacist – UK), and Sundaranantha (AI – Canada),

Beloved brother-in-law of Rajeswari, Rajathurai, Ariaratnam, Sivakamasundari, Parameswaran, Sivagnanam, Sadasivam, Kanagaratnam, Sucheela (Herbal Research), and Santhakumari,

Treasured grandfather of Aswitha, Vaishnavi, Vel Abishek, Varshavi, Kiran Singam, and Vaishali.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, 04.09.2025 at 10:00 a.m. at his residence, followed by cremation at Thavady Hindu Crematorium.
